I'm Candice Carter, the founder, formulator, and owner of Nugget Oak Naturals. Growing up on a small family farm in eastern North Carolina and embarking on my own homesteading adventures with my husband Nick have allowed me to respect the land, plants, and animals all around us and to love and use the gifts they provide. I’ve spent over 20 years in prehospital medicine and have a degree in public health. My knowledge of modern medicine, coupled with my own infertility and my current studies in herbalism, have led me to see the flaws in some areas of modern healthcare, the toxic overload of today’s skincare and household products, and the beauty of traditional healing. Frustrated by the lack of toxin-free, safe options, I began crafting safe and effective products for myself, family, and our homes almost a decade ago. In 2021, I embarked on a mission to share this knowledge and these products with others.
We provide small batch, handcrafted, safe, natural, and non-toxic solutions to support you and your family on your holistic journey. We pride ourselves on remaining attainable, affordable, and providing simple steps for more natural living instead of expensive and time consuming skincare and household cleaning routines. We strive to be as sustainable as possible by using herbs organically grown here on our farm or sourcing them from ethical, organic herbal businesses and sourcing tallow from ranchers who specialize in grassfed beef that is growth hormone and antibiotic free. All of our ingredients are natural and there are never any chemical stabilizers or preservatives in our formulations. Oils used in our formulations (such as olive or jojoba) are cold-pressed and unrefined, thus avoiding the loss of nutrients, the addition of chemical solvents, and the process of oxidation which has been linked to chronic health issues. Over 95% of our products come in recyclable amber glass jars. Amber glass maintains the quality of our products by blocking UV light and protecting against light damage and unlike most plastic containers, they don’t break down and seep chemicals into our products. We also reuse all packaging material to reduce our impact on the environment.
